WuXi Biologics' Suzhou Biosafety Testing Center passed its fourth Good Manufacturing Practice inspection by the European Medicines Agency with zero critical findings, clearing 19 commercial biologics from 13 clients for the European market.
"The biosafety testing spans critical stages across the entire lifecycle of biologics, ensuring compliance with rigorous regulatory requirements from development through commercialization," Dr. Chris Chen, chief executive officer of WuXi Biologics, said.
The four-day inspection covered quality management, facilities and equipment, testing methods, standard operating procedures, computerized systems and personnel. The products span multiple modalities including antibodies, enzymes and fusion proteins, with the majority developed and manufactured on WuXi Biologics' integrated platform. GMP-compliant biosafety testing of commercial unprocessed bulk is a key component of pre-license inspections for biologics seeking EU marketing authorization and remains a focus in routine commercial inspections.
The certification strengthens WuXi Biologics' regulatory standing in Europe at a time when the contract research and manufacturing sector faces heightened scrutiny over data integrity and supply chain security. The company's biosafety testing network, with facilities in Suzhou and Shanghai, has supported more than 1,700 investigational new drug or biologics license applications as of December 2025. Investors will watch for further client wins in Europe as the company leverages its certified platform to capture a larger share of the region's outsourced biologics manufacturing market.
